The Guatemala and Mexico Collection is a series of images created by artist, James Huntley. This collection of travel gouaches and watercolors contains the vibrant landscapes, people, and culture in both Guatemala and Mexico. These works were developed on-site and later sometimes reworked through memory.
James Huntley is an artist that specializes in a variety of media, including traditional and digital. Working with mixed media, he has travelled the world and the US. His work is influenced by the places he has seen and people he has met along the way. A sense of longing (strongly referencing the Portugese idea of "fado") dominates the expression that comes through the work. "Journeys can be a seductive process. A travel experience can quickly become an old friend that always beckons for more. A short road trip or a flight across oceans can encourage experimentation.
