Fado Abstract 9 is an image created by artist, James Huntley. These images are made using purely traditional art media or combining traditional media with digital means of expression. Portuguese Fado is a music term describing the sense of longing people experience often for that which cannot always be named. These images are the pictorial fables or narratives of that longing. The abstracts are based on travel and the sights encountered.
About James Huntley
James Huntley is an artist that specializes in a variety of media, including traditional and digital. Working with mixed media, he has travelled the world and the US. His work is influenced by the places he has seen and people he has met along the way. A sense of longing (strongly referencing the Portugese idea of "fado") dominates the expression that comes through the work. "Journeys can be a seductive process. A travel experience can quickly become an old friend that always beckons for more. A short road trip or a flight across oceans can encourage experimentation.
